Cassidy's Arch - Capital Reef National Park

In the footsteps of Butch Cassidy and the Wild Bunch, we drove down Grand Wash in Capital Reef National Park and headed for the trail to Cassidy's Arch.

The skies were dark and it was starting to sprinkle a bit on and off, which increased the tension our son expressed after reading this sign.

The Frying Pan Trail offers lots of neat rocks for playing around...check out the grain on the sandstone in the first picture below!

The spur trail to Cassidy Arch requires a bit of a scramble in places, but is not an overly strenuous hike.

The views get better as you reach the top of the canyon walls, here's a look back down to the parking area.

We come within sight of the Arch...

..but that is as close as I'm allowed to get, as a sudden, urgent need sends us running back down the trail for the parking area.  Thankfully, the Park Service had conveniently placed a pit toilet there.  It all worked out OK.
